My Samsung QN90A buying experience with Reliance Digital, Ambattur (INDIA)

Samsung is one the best TV brands in the world. Reliance Digital is one of the best digital retailers too. So, when you deal with both of these, you would assume that you would have a best customer experience while buying a flagship TV. Well think again!

Here is the overall experience and what happened so far.

Experience Summary:

Even after paying full payment, working and waiting for almost 4 months with Reliance and Samsung, as a customer, I still don't have a working TV at my home.

Since the TV with Dirty Screen Effect (DSE) was delivered, I'm struggling for months to get the product replaced. The bad panel TV in my living room makes a very painful experience.

My buying experience extended for 2 months and service experience is going on for more than 2 months. Read on to know more...

Airtel's Wi-Fi calling feature works with Moto G 5G

A lot of mobile phone users are these days working from home at remote places. Wi-Fi calling has been a boon for those who are struggling with network coverage, but has a good broadband connection at home. There are lot of folks who are trying to find which mobile phones support Wi-Fi calling on a particular mobile network.

I was searching for this information and these are not updated properly on any sites fully. So, if anyone is out there wanting to know that whether Wi-Fi calling works on Motorola G 5G on Airtel India, it does. It works out of the box, without having to enable any setting.

Obviously, the Wi-Fi calling option has to be enabled in the network settings and the preferred option has to be set accordingly. But, the point is that they were set by default and it works seamlessly. Enjoy!

How to play an umpire-less table tennis game?

"Umpire" literally means an official who watches a game or match closely to enforce the rules and arbitrate on matters arising from the play. A large number of games being played all around the world, won't have the liberty to have someone always available to play the role of an empire. This become extremely tough, when we are talkiing about a game which is fast happening and have several minute rules to follow.

Here, we discuss some basic rules and guidelines that can make playing such a game a little more professional so that you can have a good experience playing the game, without having a lot of arguments and even heated fights.

Basic Rules

It is important to actually know the international standard rules than simply following the local rules. So, let's go over them.

If you are a begginner, you might not be able to follow these rules fully or even your opponent might not be able to. Cut some slack in these situations; let the person know that they are doing that wrong, especially when they are beginners and give time for them to get better and to follow those rules.

Golden Rule - "Not about accuracy"

You might already know this that now all umpire decisions are correct. They are taking the best decisions possible based on the information that they have. The accuracy of thier decisions varies based on the what they see, what info they recieve from the line umpires and the technology placed around them. Even then, accuracy is not 100%. Hence, you see "Umpire's decision is final" note everywhere.

Now, when you are playing umpireless, expect this accuracy to be much lower. Expect that the decisions won't be accurate. It's about who is at the best position to call the shot and take the decision, based on the scenario. Respect that person's decision and move on.

Golden Rule - "No re-serves"

Generally, what we have seen is, when there is a dispute, the final settlement is a re-serve; which is to just cancel the rally and do it again. This is bad for a professional and pleasant experience since the powerful person always ends up calling re-serves multiple times and that becomes the norm whenever there is a dispute. Avoid this at all times. Decide the disputed point - based on the rules below - and live with it.

Serve touching the net

General rule says that a serve when touched the net had to be served again. This can go on for several times. Locally, sometimes there is a restriction that if 3 serves touched the next, it's a point loss. This is usually enforced to make sure that the game moves on to the next stage faster and someone cannot keep on letting this happen for a long time. So, there's a bit of merit to this rule and you can follow the 3-limit rule if everyone is onboard with it. Else, stick with the global standards.

But, the bigger point is "who" gets to decide whether the serve touched the net. The easiest way is;

"If someone called a net touch, that's to be considered as net touch serve and do it again"

This makes it so much easier to move on and forces the serving person to do a better serve next time.

Serve touching the center/middle line

When playing doubles, there's always this dispute that the serve touched the middle line, especially on spin serves. To avoid disputes, it's always best to give the decision making power to the recipient of the serve. The only exception here is that, if the recipient is standing very close to the table near the middle line, then the serving person gets to make the decision.

"For a middle line dispute, the recipient decision is final. Only excerption being the recipient being close to the middle line, in which case the servinng person's decision is final".

An argument genmerally is made to this rule that, since the serving person knows what is being tried. a servinf person is at the best person to make this decision. Yes, generally. But, he/she is also intending to make the serve right. So, there is high possibility that a biased decision will be made here. Hence, the above rule.

Edge Shot or Side Shot?

During the play, if it is an edge shot you get the point. But, if the shot was on the side of the table, you lose the point. Most of the time, this a recipe for an argument. There is a easy solution to this. Look at the angle at which the ball bounces after it hits the board.

"If it bounces above the plane of the board, it's an edge shot. if it bounces farther away from the table, it's an edge shot.
If it bounces down/below, it's a side shot."

Hitting before pitching

During the play, sometimes players end up hitting the ball before it touches on the board. In any case, the decision is simple here.

"If the ball was hit before it touched the board or at the same instant, you will lose a point."

Don't try to argue for accuracy. There's always enough time to hit the ball after it has bounced. If you are doing it too close, that's an unprofessional approach and there should be a cost to it.

The same applies to hitting the ball before the first bounce within the board area.

"If there's even a small doubt that the ball was hit before the first bounce within the board area, you will lose a point."

Always avoid hitting the ball too close to the board and give enough space.

Who tracks the score?

This is the most common trouble maker in the whole game. Different people track score in thier minds and every now and then starts disputing that the scores are incorrect. This is a complete turn-off to have a good experience from a game.

A very simple rule to follow is that,

Option 1: "Whoever serves keep tracks of the score at that time and announces before each serve, loudly."

Then, when the serve goes to anbother person, thyat person does the trackinbg and announcement and the game goes on. The advatnage is that, this keep the responsibiliy equally distributed and no one person will feel tired to watch the points all the time.

Another less desired, but working option is,

Option 2: "One person in the game keep tracks of the score at that time and announces before each serve, loudly."

The above options will work only if the below golden rule is followed.

If you believe that the tracker person did a mistake, call it immediately after it was announced.

Golden rule: "Dispute to a point can be raised ONLY immediately it was announced. Disputing for past points are not allowed."

Most people cannot track what happened multiple points before and having an argumet on past points is pointless. So, if you cannot be a part of the team and track points at individual level, that means that you're probably wrong and the person show is tracking at individual level is probably right than you. So, track the points at each point level and raise disputes at that level, not afterwards. Disputes on past poiunts are completely forbidden. Just follow the person who is tracking points and respect his/her effort.

General etiquette

Here are general bonus etiquettes that you could follow.

No big sounds - During shots, don't make big sounds. This affects the opponent's reflex and they won't be able to perform at thier best. Please avoid.

Treating Next one in queue - "Rotate at every game"

Especially when you are playing locally, there may be people waiting in queue to play. If there is someone waiting, regardless of thjier skill level and age, please give them a chance immediately after a game. Everyone time is precious and everyoine deserve an opportunity. You can always come up with a mrule that whowver was playing more, can step out and give the new person an opportunity. Also, when you invite the new person, step of the playing place and invite. If you just stay in your position and invite, that means your body language is saying that you dont wan't to give up your position. That's unprofessional.

Conclusion

Well, that's it. If you have used better rules, please comment and share. Also, if there are scenarios that should've been included, let me know that as well.

These are not hard rules that it's iexpected to follow as it is. They just act as some guidelines for you to come up with rules that you can follow to make your gaming experience better and proifessional. Have a good game. Enjoy!

An experience with ShoppersDay.in Ebay Seller

What I Ordered?

Here is what the ebay listing looked like.

As you can see, there is a something on the top, like a holder, using which I can lift the bag. There are also zipped side pockets.

As per the listing, the bag should be of the brand, SkullCandy OR shoopersday. Here is the description screenshot. Moreover, the package is expected to be send using FedEx, BlueDart, DTDC or Aramex.

Here is a video explaining this!

What I Received!

When the product was delivered, it was something entirely different from what was in the listing. See below.

As you can see, there is no side pockets and there is no holder on the top. Above all, the bag is of some unknown brand named "Priority", with inferior quality.

It was also through a courier NOT mentioned in the listing.

As mentioned in the above video, as soon as I purchased the product, I mentioned that this is an immediate need and the seller knew that I won't have time to go for a refund. Now, I have to live with this product.

Here is the video on unwrapping the package:

Conclusion:

It's not a big concern that I didn't received what I ordered. However, it surely send out a message on the trustworthiness of the seller. Just wanted to share with all the online buyers out there.

The seller seems to have another separate website:

Pizza Hut (PHD) online ordering and delivery experience is Poor - Ambit IT Park, Ambattur

I've been a satisfied Pizza customer for more than 5 years, ever since I moved to Chennai. However, it looks like things have changed lately. There has been price hikes in Pizza rates (which we can understand to a certain extend) with reduction quality of Pizza and delivery (which is worth a concern).

So, having bad experience for the third time,  I thought it's time to write it up and let others know.

Here's what happened:

After two times of poor service, I was reluctant of ordering from Pizza Hut again. However the below offer persuaded me to do so.

I placed my order at around 3:45 pm at www.pizzahut.co.in on a Sunday and here at the order details.

After few minutes, I got a call from Pizza Hut PHD Ambit it park branch and I got it confirmed that I will get my pizza at the delivery time (with an allowable 30 mins delay). So far so good.

It's Pizza time (or not!)

After 9'o clock, I tried the Pizza Hut PHD branch and asked for my delivery and why it is being delayed. No correct response. They are having trouble identifying my order. I called the 3988 3988 customer support and they told they will arrange a call back. Now waiting for over 15 minutes...

No calls until now. Gave a call back again to their branch and this time they told that the order left for delivery at 8:30 PM itself. Even by walk I'm 10 minutes away from them and I wondered why this guy is taking more than 30 minutes to reach in a bike. The PHD guy had no answer and i had to contact customer support again now. Since each time an new guy picks up, it harder to explain each time the whole thing and they will always answer that they will arrange a call back. At one point of time,  PHD guy told me that he will send the order ASAP, when i called. This was getting frustrating and the fifth time I asked for refund from the customer support an cancel the order. Now, the time is almost 9:45 pm. While on call, another call came in.

This time, the call was from a delivery guy and he was asking for directions and I told him where I'm. He got it delivered and now at around 10: 00 pm now it's Pizza time.

Is this a Pizza, really?

Contrary to my expectations, i had to face another problem. What I got is a less baked under cooked Pizza and I think these picture/video will talk more than words.

Last time, when I visited Pizza Hut PHD in Ambit IT park, I had to deal with an under cooked Pizza and mentioned it to the Pizza guy at that day. I missed that crunchiness and that minor crispness that you usually get, this time too. The one in the video is actually the best among the pieces. This one is slightly brown at the bottom. The other pieces were more whitish as the bottom.

This time, it was really hard to chew and it felt like dough in your mouth and was really pasty.  My kid and I rejected it and we went with some breads and that became the dinner, that was otherwise supposed to be a great dinner.

I thought rather than bringing it to the less caring customer support, let's bring it to people's attention this time that Pizza is not the Pizza it used to be. The quality of the Pizza as well as the quality of the delivery seems to be reducing.

Conclusion

Thus, if you really want a better experience, don't order. Just go there and if you're lucky, you will get a perfectly cooked pizza on time. Best of luck!

Airtel charging me thousands for their mistake in SMS notifications

The detailed version of this problem is available here.

Airtel send me SMS on 12th saying that my free data offer will get deactivated in 3 days.

Airtel send me SMS on 14th saying that offer expired.

I used Internet on 13th expecting it to be free.

Airtel is charging thousands of rupees for 13th usage, saying that the offer expired on 12th itself and they don't have a log of such an SMS that i received on 12th and 14th. The total usage for the month is less than 2GB and the chargeable usage is around 5930KB only. Detailed calculation is here.

I presented myself at the Airtel head office at Santhome, Chennai and showed the SMS messages from the phone. Talked with all levels of Customer support executives and emailed them with proof. Everyone, to whom the problem was escalated, is taking two days and being passed to someone else. The cycle is going on...[read more here]
